All Electric Motorcycle Regent No. 1 To Debut In 2020 — No School Like The Old School
Sweden-based electric motorcycle manufacturer, Regent Motorcycles recently showcased their first product, the Regent No. 1 electric motorcycle. The production prototype was revealed on 10 May 2019 at the MC Massan Swedish Motorcycle Fair.
Encouraged and elated by the response to the Regent No. 1, the company has planned to ramp up production for a commercial launch. They plan to launch the all-electric Regent No. 1 by May 2020. The motorcycle is currently priced at 9,500 Euros (roughly Rs 7.5 lakh), and the company is offering a 10 per cent discount to the first 100 customers. Regent Motorcycles is already accepting pre-orders on the company's website.
The Regent No. 1 features a rear hub motor that produces 11bhp of power, although the motorcycle is capable of producing up to 20bhp. The company claims that the top speed stands at 120kmph. The Regent No. 1 features a 72V/ 80Ah battery that offers a 6kWh capacity.
Regent Motorcycles claim that the all-electric motorcycle can cover a distance of 150km on a single charge. The motorcycle features a steel frame, standard telescopic forks, and dual rear shock absorbers featuring chromed out coil springs. 18-inch spoked wheels are offered as standard and feature disc brakes with ABS and regenerative braking. The kerb weight of the motorcycle is 130kgs.
The retro-styled Regent No. 1 features a host of modern technology. The motorcycle features a digital touch screen infotainment system for an instrument console, includes built-in GPS, and an anti-theft device which powers the geo-fencing feature.
Regent Motorcycles is currently looking for investors, as they feel more investment equals reduction in prices of the motorcycle.
Thoughts About The All Electric Regent No. 1 Motorcycle
At first glance, the motorcycle looks like an electric variant of the much loved Yamaha RX 100. We think this will sell faster than hot cakes in India, and we hope Regent Motorcycles is actively looking for partners in the country. With the Electric Revolution happening in the country, they should be here. We're sure they will retail more Regent No. 1 motorcycles in India than any where else in the world. Why? Well look at the motorcycle! If this motorcycle does make it to the country, the first thing we're doing is heading over to our dear friend Rizwan Bhai for some Yamaha decals!
