Rajiv Bajaj Berates Tata Design Head Pratap Bose’s Tweet About Chetak Electric’s Design
We brought news some time ago that Mr Pratap Bose, the Design Head at Tata Motors had called the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter a 'lost opportunity'. Well, Rajiv Bajaj, the Managing Director at Bajaj Auto has berated the statement.
Mr Rajiv Bajaj said, "I don't know who he is. I mean I know he is the design head at Tata Motors but I don't know where he's coming from on this. If design is the only thing customers see then Maruti cars wouldn't sell in large numbers."
Mr Bajaj also took a shot at the new Tata Harrier TVC that advertises the Land Rover connection with the auto manufacturer's SUV. Rajiv Bajaj said that Tata did not have faith on their products and need to advertise the Harrier as the Land Rover's cheap cousin.
The Bajaj Chetak marks an entry in to the electric scooter segment for Bajaj Auto. The company showcased the scooter in October, and revealed the production-spec model on 15 November this year.
In related news, the company also announced that the Chetak Electric Yatra has come to end. A total of 20 Chetak electric scooters through 10 cities, and covered 3500 kilometers each. That's a collective of 70,000 kilometers which is also the total battery life of the Chetak.
Bajaj also announced warranty and service details for the all-electric Chetak. The company is offering a three-year/ 50,000 kilometer warranty, and says that the service intervals are set at 15,000 kilometers. To know more about warranty and service details, click here.
In other news, Bajaj Auto is planning to share its e-scooter platform with Austrian motorcycle manufacturers KTM and Husqvarna. The platform used with the Chetak electric scooter is modular and flexible enough for other brand to use them.
The company says they have had discussions with KTM and that both products are in development now.
Thoughts About The Shots Fired By Rajiv Bajaj
We were waiting for it! Saying something like ‘I don't know who he is' is absolutely brilliant. Add to that taking a dig at the TVC. Mr Bajaj is on a roll and we're hoping this turns in to an epic battle on Twitter!
