2020 Honda Africa Twin Details Revealed — More Features And Better Performance
The Honda Africa Twin or the CRF1000L has been one of the most popular adventure-tourer motorcycles in the market. The motorcycle is known for its highly capable off-road capabilities. Now rumours suggest that the Honda Africa Twin is set to receive a number of updates in 2020.
The 2020 Honda Africa Twin is expected to come with a number of significant updates to its design and features. However, the most important update is to its engine. The 2020 Africa Twin is expected to feature a bigger engine, more powerful and offering better performance compared to the current generation model.
The Africa Twin was first introduced in 2016 and later received an update in 2018. The updated Honda Africa Twin in 2018 saw the introduction of features such as a ride-by-wire system, seven-level traction control and four different riding modes.
The 2020 Honda Africa Twin is expected to come with a host of additional features such as keyless ignition, full-colour TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and other multimedia support functions.
In terms of mechanicals, the new Africa Twin is expected to feature a bigger 1080cc engine, replacing the current 998cc unit. The new engine is said to produce over 100bhp. In India, the current adventure-tourer is offered with only the DCT transmission.
Having said so, there is still no confirmation or any official news regarding the motorcycle. Honda is expected to unveil the new model probably during the 2019 EICMA in November this year. The motorcycle will go on sale in international markets only by 2020 and will take longer to be actually introduced in India.
The Africa Twin in India is imported into India as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kit and assembled in the HMSI plant. The adventure-tourer is sold in Honda's premium 'Wing World' dealerships in select cities across India.
Thoughts On The 2020 Honda Africa Twin
The Honda Africa Twin is one of the most capable off-roader motorcycles currently in the market. The Adventure-tourer offering in India has already registered 150 sales and is currently priced at Rs 13.30 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi). The motorcycle rivals the likes of the Triumph Tiger, BMW GS adventure series and the Ducati Multistrada.
