Bajaj Working On BS-VI-Compliant Pulsar Range — New Pulsar 150 Spied Testing Ahead Of Launch

The 2020 Bajaj Pulsar 150 has been spotted testing. The motorcycle carries forward the same design traits as the current generation with just a few changes. The biggest change though would come in the form of BS-VI compliance.

The Pulsar 150 has for a long time been the bread and butter model for Bajaj. It was one of the motorcycles that gave birth to the low-capacity performance motorcycling segment in India. It has since then seen five major upgrades and many more variants being added to the Pulsar line-up.

The Pulsar 150 though continues to be offered as a bare-basic model and despite being really old, it continues to sell well. It is little surprise then that Bajaj decided that the Pulsar 150 should be one of the first models to go the BS-VI way.

The 2020 Bajaj Pulsar 150 will ditch carburettors in favour of fuel-injection which gives it the ability to be BS-VI compliant. Going by the images of the BS-VI Pulsar 150 posted by PowerDrift, the motorcycle will be offered with the Red paint scheme.

The motorcycle also comes with a few minor updates like steel-braided front brake lines, brake calipers finished in a golden colour and reflectors on the fork. Small changes have also been made to the cowling underneath the engine.

The Pulsar 150 spotted on test is not the top-spec model but is the basic model with a disc brake up front and a drum brake at the rear. Suspension duties are handled by a conventional telescopic fork up front and twin gas-charged shocks at the rear.

The Bajaj Pulsar 150 is currently powered by an air-cooled, 149cc, single-cylinder engine with a maximum power output of 13.8bhp and a peak torque output of 13.4Nm. A 5-speed gearbox drives the rear wheel. The basic configuration of the engine will remain the same on the 2020 model, except that it will come with fuel-injection as mentioned earlier.

It is unclear at the moment if there would be a change in the power figures. It could do with a little more power and we hope to see the same.

Thoughts On 2020 Bajaj Pulsar 150 BS-VI Model Spotted Testing

The Bajaj Pulsar 150 line-up is one that brings in the sales figures for the Pune-based company and Bajaj is updating it to BS-VI norms. In terms of pricing, it is expected to cost anywhere between Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000 more than the current model. Once launched, it will compete with the likes of the Honda CB Unicorn 150, Hero Xtreme SPorts and TVS Apache RTR 160.
