KTM Sales In India Register 39% Growth: RC & Duke 125 Are Top-Selling Models For The Brand

KTM sales in India has managed to register a growth in the market in the month of September 2019. The company has recorded a 39% growth in India, mainly due to the success of the Duke 125 and the RC 125 models.

The KTM Duke 125 and RC 125 models managed to register the highest sales compared to any other model from the brand's lineup. The KTM 125 twins registered 2,648 units of sales in the previous month.

This is slightly higher than its larger siblings, the Duke and RC 200 models. The KTM Duke 200 and RC 200 are the second best-selling models in the lineup, with 2,095 units of sales. The KTM Duke 200 was the first-ever product sold in the Indian market. It went on sale in 2015 and since then has been one of the most popular models for the brand, bringing in consistent sales month-on-month.

Following the 125 and 200cc models, is the Duke 250. The KTM Duke 250 registered 623 units of sales in September 2019. This is just 0.95% decline from its sales in the same month last year when it registered 629 units of sales. The KTM Duke and RC 390 are positioned in fourth with 398 units of sales last month. This is a 41% decline from 675 units of sales in September 2018.

Below the KTM Duke 390 is the newly introduced Duke 790. The KTM Duke 790 is the first middle-weight motorcycle offering from the brand in the Indian market. The Duke 790 was launch recently with a price tag of Rs 8.63 lakh, ex-showroom (India).

The KTM Duke 790 is powered by a 799cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine. It produces 104bhp at 9000rpm and 87Nm of peak torque at 8000rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Weighing in at just 189kg (kerb weight), the KTM Duke 790 offers a massive power-to-weight ratio of 612bhp per tonne.

KTM is currently offering just 100 units of the Duke 790, out of which 41 units have already been sold last month. The KTM Duke 790 will be upgraded to BS-VI emission norms, before going on sale completely.
