KTM India recently launched their new entry-level offering, the Duke 125 in the Indian market in November 2018. With its first full month of sales in December, KTM has recorded 2,414 units during the previous month.
The sales figure of the KTM Duke 125 is more than the combined total of all other models put together by the Austrian brand. The other offering from KTM, namely the Duke 200, Duke 250 and the Duke 390 have recorded 935, 135 and 106 units, respectively during the month of December 2018.
The KTM Duke 125 carries forward the same design as its elder sibling, the Duke 200. The motorcycle was introduced in the market in November 2018 with a price tag of Rs 1.18 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi) - here are some basic differences between the Duke 125 and Duke 200.
All KTM Duke models sold in India, apart from the Duke 390 are built using the same chassis. The KTM Duke 125 uses the same steel trellis frame design as seen on the Duke 200, as well as a aluminium swingarm (both of which are segment-first features). The KTM Duke 125 is further manufactured at Bajaj's Chakan plant in Pune.
The KTM Duke 125 is powered by a 124cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. It produces 14.3bhp and 12Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The Duke 125 features a 43mm upside-down forks at the front and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. It also features a 300mm and 230mm disc brakes at the front and rear, respectively. The brakes are further supported by a single-channel ABS system. The KTM Duke 125 is the smallest displacement offering from the Austrian brand in the Indian market. The Duke 125 also has enough performance to take on rivals, a segment above its own. In India, the KTM Duke 125 rivals the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Suzuki Gixxer and the TVS Apache RTR 160.
