2020 Kawasaki Z900 BS6 Launched In India At Rs 8.50 Lakh: India’s First Premium BS-VI Motorcycle
Kawasaki India has launched the new BS6-compliant Z900 motorcycle in the Indian market. The new MY20 Kawasaki Z900 BS6 motorcycle is offered with a price which ranges between Rs 8.50 lakh and Rs 9 lakh, ex-showroom.
The new Kawasaki Z900 is powered by a BS6-compliant version of the same 948cc in-line four liquid-cooled engine. It produces 123bhp at 9,500rpm and 98.4Nm of peak torque at 7,700rpm, mated to a six-speed gearbox.
The new Kawasaki Z900 BS-VI motorcycle also comes with a host of new features as well. This includes all LED lighting for the headlamps and taillights, updated suspension settings at either end and a new 4.3-inch TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity via an app called ‘Rideology'.
The new MY2020 (Model Year 2020) also comes with a new Power Mode integrated with the other riding modes, traction control, stronger frame and a new set of Dunlop Sportsmax Roadsport 2 tyres.
The new Kawasaki Z900 BS6 motorcycle will be offered in a range of two dual-tone colour options: Metallic Graphite Grey/Metallic Spark Black and Metallic Spark Black/ Metallic Flat Spark Black.
Apart from the above-mentioned changes and updates, the new Kawasaki Z900 will remain unchanged in most other ways. Although the suspension set-up has been improved, it still uses the same 41mm USD forks at the front and a mono-shock at the rear.
Braking remains unchanged and uses dual 300mm petal discs at the front and a single 250mm petal disc at the rear, supported by dual-channel ABS as standard.
The Kawasaki Z900 is said to be the first premium BS6-compliant Supernaked motorcycle in the country. With the upcoming BS-VI emission norms set to be implemented from April 2020, we can expect Kawasaki to start updating other products in its portfolio very soon as well.
Thoughts On The New MY20 Kawasaki Z900 BS-VI Motorcycle
The Kawasaki Z900 is among the most-popular supernaked motorcycle offerings in the litre-class segment. The BS-VI Kawasaki Z900 in India will continue to rival the likes of other sub-1000cc naked motorcycle offerings such as the Triumph Street Triple RS, KTM 790 Duke and the Suzuki GSX-R750.
