Jawa 300 And Jawa 42 Will Not Feature Perak’s 334cc BS-VI Complaint Engine

Jawa Motorcycles is planning to offer BS-VI compliant engines on the Jawa 300 and the Jawa Forty Two. The company says that it will upgrade the engines that are currently featured on the motorcycles, and will launch the BS-VI compliant 293cc engines during 2020.

The company made the announcement at the launch of the all new Jawa Perak. Once the new engines are inducted, both the Jawa 300 and the Jawa 42 will carry a premium. The company also said that the BS-VI compliant models will be launched some time during mid-2020.

The Jawa Perak's 334cc engine is already BS6-compliant, and the company is working on upgrading the current 293cc engine that is featured on the Jawa 300 and the Jawa 42, in order to comply with the upcoming emission norms.

We do not expect the company to make any cosmetic changes to the 300 and the 42 models, and the motorcycles will most likely retain the current underpinnings in both the premium variants. We expect that the new models with the BS-VI complaint engines will carry a premium, however we will know for sure closer to launch.

The current-generation Jawa 300 and the Jawa 42 feature a 293cc BS-IV compliant liquid-cooled single cylinder engine that produces 27bhp of power and 28Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission. The motorcycles are priced between Rs 1.55 lakh and Rs 1.64 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The recently launched Jawa Perak features a 334cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 30bhp of power and 31Nm of torque. The engine come mated to a six-speed transmission. Jawa has launched the Perak at Rs 1.94 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Jawa Motorcycles plans to start bookings for the all-new Perak motorcycle on 1 January 2020, and is planning to start deliveries from 2 April. The company said they will open booking for only three months at any given time.

Thoughts About The Upgrades To The Jawa 300 And Jawa 42

Contrary to the popular belief by some folk in the industry, the 300 and 42 models will continue to feature 293cc engines, I'll bet BS-VI complaint. We are relieved that the Jawa 300 and Jawa 42 will not receive the engine from the Perak. Can you imagine the trouble Classic Legends would be in if they thought about mounting the 334cc engine on these models!?
