Honda CB300R To Introduce Neo-Retro Segment In India — Launch On 8th February

Honda Motorcycle India has confirmed the launch of the new CB300R naked sports motorcycle in the country for 8th February, 2019. The new Honda CB300R is regarded as a 'neo-retro' motorcycle in the Japanese brand's product portfolio. It is unlike any other motorcycle of its class in terms of design.

Honda CB300R India: Launch Date

Bookings were officially started just over a week before at select Honda dealerships across India (Honda Wing World outlets). Booking amount stands at Rs 5000 for the made-in-India global product.

Speaking more about the design, the Honda CB300R follows a 'Neo Sports Cafe' theme which essentially means that it is a blend of a retro design in an ultra-modern package. The full-LED headlamp, USD forks, sharp body creases and the exposed chassis frame are part of this.

The design is similar to that of the range-topping 2019 Honda CB1000R+. The suspension duties are handled by 41mm inverted front forks and a seven-step adjustable rear monoshock. The CB300R is equipped with dual-channel ABS and even an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). The motorcycle weighs 143kg.

Regarding specifications, the new Honda CB300R comes with a 286cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine; the same one found in the 2015 CBR300R. It makes 31.4bhp and 27.5Nm of torque, and is mated to a six-speed transmission.

Honda CB300R India: Launch Date

Once launched, the Honda CB300R will rival the BMW G 310 R and Mahindra Mojo UT300. It can also be considered as a less-powerful alternative to the KTM 390 Duke and Bajaj Dominar 400.

The expected price for the upcoming Honda CB300R is within Rs 2.5 lakh ex-showroom. This is a bit on the higher side especially when compared to the 390 Duke which offers more than 10bhp extra for around Rs 2.40 lakh.

Coming back to the Honda CB300R, the neo-retro motorcycle will find a decent number of buyers, thanks to its aesthetics. Furthermore, the anticipation for it is high since its engine is completely new. The overall performance should be quite impressive as well.

Thoughts On Honda Launching The New CB300R

Indian motorcycle enthusiasts did not expect Honda to bring the CB300R to the country, but were longing for a proper replacement to the near-10-year-old Honda CBR250R. Honda did give the 250cc sportsbike an update at Auto Expo 2018. However, this update was limited to just a full-LED headlamp cluster, BS-VI-compliance and new paint schemes.
