Honda showcased the new BS-VI compliant model, which came with a number of updates and additional features and equipment as well. Here are some of the main changes between the current Activa 125 model and the upcoming BS-VI compliant Activa 125 model.

Design

In terms of design, the Honda Activa 125 BS-VI carries forward the same silhouette as the current model on sale in the country. However, there are a few changes made to the new model.

These changes include the addition of a chrome strip on the front apron and the side profiles of the BS-VI model. Honda has also slightly tweaked the LED headlamps, tail lights and the cornering lights on the new Activa 125 model. Honda has now also placed the fuel lid externally, which can be opened through the multi-function ignition switch.

Apart from the above minor changes, the overall look of the new Honda Activa 125 BS-VI remains unchanged.

Features

The Honda Activa 125 BS-VI model carries forward all the same features as the model currently on sale in India. However, in addition to these features which include a CBS technology (Combi-Braking System); Honda has added a completely new instrument cluster on the BS-VI version of the Activa 125.

The new instrument cluster is now semi-digital, which means that the speedometer remains analogue while other information such as the trip meter and odometer are now displayed on a digital screen. The screen now also comes with a clock, fuel gauge, real-time fuel efficiency, average fuel efficiency and distance-to-zero readings as well. Honda has also added a smart little side-stand indicator on the instrument cluster as well.

The side-stand indicator also comes with an engine inhibitor, preventing the engine to start until the stand is completely folded away. Honda will also introduce a smart start/stop function on the BS-VI compliant Activa 125, something similar to the ones seen on its rivals, the Hero Maestro Edge 125.

Engine Specifications

One of the most significant changes to the new model is the new BS-VI compliant engine. The Honda Activa 125 BS-VI uses the same 124cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, which is now available with a fuel-injection system.

The engine is now said to be more smoother and refined than the current model. Honda however is yet to officially announce the power and torque outputs from the new BS-VI compliant engines.

Honda has also equipped the Activa 125 BS-VI with ESP (Enhanced Smart Power) along with its HET (Honda Eco Technology). The ESP also includes a noiseless Alternate Current Generator (ACG) which helps in better fuel injection, offering a smoother ride than the current model.

Thoughts On The Honda Activa 125 BS-VI Model

The new BS-VI compliant Honda Activa 125 is expected to be launched in the Indian market sometime in September 2019. It will be priced at a slight premium to the current BS-IV model on sale in the Indian market. Following its launch, the new BS-VI compliant Activa 125 will continue to rival the likes of the TVS Ntorq 125, Suzuki Access 125 and the Hero Maestro Edge 125 in the Indian market.
