Hero Xtreme 200R’s Sales Are Doing Better Than Expected — 1438 Units Sold In December 2018

Hero Xtreme 200R sales are doing decent than expected. Hero MotoCorp sold 1438 units of Xtreme 200R in December 2018 alone.

The Hero Xtreme 200R is doing better in terms of sales than how it is widely assumed. Hero MotoCorp sold 1438 units of the Xtreme 200R naked sports motorcycle in December 2018. This might not be a great number when compared to the sales figures of other Hero products on the market (especially the Splendor), but is still a decent figure considering the stiff competition in the 200cc motorcycle segment.

Hero Xtreme 200R Sales

First showcased at Auto Expo 2018 and launched in August 2018, the Hero Xtreme 200R was quite late to the party with the 200cc market already dominated by the KTM 200 Duke, Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 and TVS Apache RTR 200. However, the Hero Xtreme 200R is relatively cheaper than its competitors.

While the legendary Indian motorcycle company still remains one of the largest two-wheeler manufacturers in the world, Hero MotoCorp just couldn't make a desirable premium motorcycle. The majority of its portfolio and sales comprise of budget-oriented commuters and the Xtreme 200R does not offer enough to woo buyers from the other (and better) 200cc choices. The Hero Xtreme 200R is considerably better than the faired Karizma ZMR.

As per reports, a new Hero Karizma model is under the works and it shares the same platform as of the Xtreme 200R — here's what you should know about the KTM RC 200-rival.

On the features department, the Xtreme 200R gets a semi-digital instrument console, LED tail lamp, seven-step adjustable rear monoshock suspension, gear-shift indicator and a single-channel ABS. Design-wise, the Hero Xtreme 200R is definitely the best-looking product from the brand, but not a serious eye-catcher in its segment.

The Hero Xtreme 200R is powered by a 199.6cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 18bhp and 17Nm of torque. Mated to a five-speed transmission, the power plant promises a 0-60km/h acceleration time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 114km/h.

Thoughts On The Hero Xtreme 200R's Decent Sales Performance

As mentioned before, the sales figures of the Xtreme 200R is very low compared to that of other products from Hero MotoCorp. However, it is still a commendable achievement since a good majority of Indian motorcycle enthusiasts often considered the Xtreme 200R as a market failure; the obvious reason being its tough rivals.
