Ducati's in-house HPC Environment was being used this far to help design technology for track and road bikes. The company uses advanced aerodynamics and fluid dynamic modeling tools to calculate how a particular design or feature will react in different riding conditions.

The company does not just do this for superbikes and GP bike that they sponsor, but also for all their road models. The result is that owners of Ducati motorcycles enjoy an exceptional riding experience.

Ducati used its own, in-house HPC Environment for design processes until it discovered that the HPC infrastructure was no longer delivering the performance, the reliability, or the flexibility needed to test new designs, within deadlines. Ergo, the move to Lenovo's HPC infrastructure.

Stefano Rendina, IT Manager at Ducati, said, "Previously, we had to transfer the results of our models and stress tests from the HPC environment and then use an entirely different workstation to transform this data into easy-to-understand visualizations. The process of transferring data in this way was both time-intensive and expensive-slowing down research and development."

Thoughts About Ducati Moving To Lenovo's HPC Environment

Most superbikes are born in a digital environment, and do not make it to production specs until they clear all tests within this digital environment. Manufacturers are able to test design aspect of the motorcycle and fine tune their products before production and final deliveries.

Ducati moving to Lenovo's HPC infrastructure shows how committed that company is towards engineering better, safer & faster products, and committed towards giving owners and customers a ‘higher' ride experience. We definitely expect faster motorcycles going forward.
