2019 Dakar Rally Stage 3 Results — Sherco TVS Racing And Hero MotoSports Inch Forward

2019 Dakar Rally: Stage 3 (San Juan de Marcona - Arequipa) results out. Distance: 467km (plus 331km special).

2019 Dakar Rally Stage 3 results are out and in the Moto category, Sherco TVS Racing and Hero MotoSports have showcased commendable progress. Spanning a total distance of 799km (including a 331km special section), Stage 3 of Dakar Rally extended from San Juan de Marcona to Arequipa.

Compared to the previous stages, Stage 3 was relatively easier in terms of terrain harshness. However, one rider did get stuck in sand midway through the race. Check out the results of Dakar 2019 stage 2.

Sam Sunderland from Red Bull KTM finished first, followed by Kevin Benavides (Monster Energy Honda) and Pablo Quintanilla (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing) in second and third positions, respectively. Even though the terrain was slightly forgiving, the riders struggled in navigation.

Hero MotoSports's very own CS Santosh got a good start on the first day of the stage, but dropped back to the 42nd position due to some trouble in navigating. Joaquim Rodrigues had a similar issue and landed up in the 31st position. On the other hand, Oriel Mena blasted forward to the eight position (12th overall).

Michael Metge from Sherco TVS Racing also showcased an impressive run in the third stage of Dakar 2019. He managed to climb up from 62nd to the 28th position. His brother, Adrien Metge, maintained the same position as the previous stage and landed up in the 15th position.

Sherco TVS Racing's other rider, Lorenzo Santolino, finished in the 17th place. Meanwhile, Aravind KP still met some bottlenecks in the route and is 61st on the chart.

Verdict

As mentioned before, navigation was the biggest challenge for the riders. Many had difficulties finding the right checkpoint and some even had to travel a considerable distance in the reverse direction. Stage 4 of Dakar 2019 will see contestants travelling from Arequipa to Moquegua.
