BMW Offers News Colours For the G 310 R And The G310GS — How Else Shall We Increase Sales?

While the BMW G 310 R and G310GS are manufactured in India, they are built for international markets. The motorcycles are competitively priced against its rival, the KTM Duke 390, in Europe but command a significant premium in India. BMW Motorrad India appears to have made a conscious decision to market the motorcycles as aspirational products that serve as a point of entry for BMW enthusiasts.

The German manufacturer has very quietly introduced a Cosmic Black coloured variant of the G 310 R, and a Strato Blue Metallic coloured variant of the G310GS. We hear that the G 310 R's updated colour scheme has been incorporated based on customer feedback. The fuel tank extensions, the front mud-guard, and a part of the tailpiece that used to white, now feature the Cosmic Black colour.

The all-black paint job features red highlights on the tailpiece and tank extensions. Though the changes are rather small, the new colour scheme gives the motorcycle a cleaner look. There are no other changes made to the street fighter. The Strato Blue colour however, is an all new colour option for the BMW G310GS.

Both the BMW 310s are powered by a single-cylinder liquid-cooled 313cc engine engine that produces 34bhp of power, and 28Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Features on both motorcycles include a fully digital instrument cluster, inverted telescopic forks at the front, dual-channel ABS, and LED tail lights.

Priced at Rs 2.99 lakh and Rs 3.49 lakh, the G 310 R and the G310GS are more expensive than other 300cc motorcycles, but they cater for a niche crowd. The RE 650 Twins are cheaper and offer better value for money, but owning a BMW is something else!

BMW 3

BMW Motorrad is planning to launch a fully faired version of the G310R. Showcased as the G310RR concept in Japan last year, the fully faired compact motorcycle will compete with the KTM RC 390 and Kawasaki Ninja 300 once launched. We expect that the BMW G310RR will launch in India too, considering it is being manufactured in the country.

Thoughts About The New Colour Schemes For The BMW 310 Twins

Well okay. There really isn't much to say about new colour schemes, is there? Yes, the all black looks great, as always. We think if BMW reduces prices to truly compete with KTM, they will swallow the market whole.
