Benelli 400 Imperiale India Launch Date Confirmed: Will Rival The Royal Enfield Classic 350
Benelli 400 Imperiale to be launched in India on the 25th of October. The cruiser-style motorcycle from Benelli was first showcased at the 2017 EICMA and is already available in international markets.
The Benelli 400 Imperiale will be imported into the Indian market as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit and assembled at its plant in India. The 400 Imperiale will also consist of a number of localised components, allowing it to be priced competitively in the segment.
The international-spec Benelli 400 Imperiale is powered by a 373.5cc single-cylinder fuel-injected engine. It produces 19bhp at 5500rpm and 28Nm of torque at 3500rpm; mated to a five-speed gearbox. The Indian-spec model is also expected to carry forward the same engine specifications as well.
In terms of mechanicals, the Benelli 400 Imperiale will comes with standard telescopic forks at the front and a dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking will be handled by single discs at both ends, supported by dual-channel ABS system.
In terms of features, the Benelli 400 Imperiale will come with a retro-looking 12-litre teardrop fuel tank, circular headlamps, split seats, single-piece handlebars, chrome-finished low slung exhausts and a twin-pod instrument cluster. The motorcycle also features chrome fenders and spoke wheels.
The company is working aggressively to expand its presence in the Indian market. The company has already opened up new dealerships and service stations across various cities in the country. The company will further expand and is expected to have 60 dealerships in the country by end-2020.
Benelli currently sells five models in the Indian market, including the 302R, TNT300, TNT600i, TRK 502 and TRK 502X and the recently launched Leoncino 500. Apart from the motorcycle offerings, Benelli is also looking at introducing scooters in the Indian market as well.
Thoughts On The Benelli 400 Imperiale India Launch
The Benelli 400 Imperiale will go on sale in the Indian market from the 25th of October. Once launched in India, the Imperiale 400 will be the sixth product in the Benelli India range. It is expected to be priced in the range of around Rs 2.5 lakh, ex-showroom. The Benelli 400 Imperiale will rival the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350 Jawa and Jawa 42 in the Indian market.
