Bajaj-Triumph Products Will Export From India To International Market

Bajaj-Triumph products will be exported to international markets from India, confirms Rajiv Bajaj at the unveiling event of the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter. This made-in-India Bajaj-Triumph motorcycles will be exported to the US, Europe and Japanese markets.

Both brands have already announced their partnership plans two years ago, however, Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles are yet to sign a formal pact. We expect the pact to be signed between the two brands in the third quarter of FY2020, that is somewhere between October to December 2019. The partnership between the two brands aims to spawn a couple of mid-capacity motorcycles to the Indian market.

The upcoming Bajaj-Triumph products would be designed and developed by Triumph Motorcycles. Bajaj Auto would handle the manufacturing process at its Chakan facility near Pune. The partnership between Bajaj and KTM is also working in a similar fashion as well.

With Bajaj manufacturing motorcycles, we can expect the jointly developed products to be priced competitively. This has been the case with KTM products manufactured by the Indian manufacturer which enabled the brand to price it aggressively. The Bajaj-Triumph partnership will target its products in the 400-800 cc segment. This would put the upcoming motorcycles against the likes of Royal Enfield 650 Twins and Harley-Davidson Street series.

The company had exported as much as 40% of their production last year. A total of two-million vehicles out of five million was exported in 2018 which includes motorcycles and three-wheelers. The brand had exported their models which includes Pulsars, Dominars and the KTMs to over 79 countries.

Bajaj Auto will also manufacture upcoming Husqvarna Motorcycles, the Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 401, at its Chakan facility. These motorcycles will also be exported to all the markets globally. The Husqvarna Motorcycles is expected to arrive in the Indian market by early 2020 with a BS-VI compliant engine. Both motorcycles will powered by the same 373.2cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, that is currently featured on the KTM Duke 390.
