Bajaj Increases Prices Of Platina H-Gear Variants — Up To Rs 1000 Hike In Prices
Bajaj Auto has just increased the price of its latest commuter offering, the Platina 110 H-Gear, by up to Rs 1,000. The motorcycle is available in two variants, one features drum brakes, and the other features a disc brake in the front.
New prices for the motorcycles stand at Rs 53,875 and Rs 56,371, respectively (prices are ex-showroom, India). The drum rake variant has witnessed a price hike of Rs 500, and the disc brake variant has witnessed a price hike of Rs 1,000.
Bajaj Auto launched the Platina 110 H-Gear during the first week of June 2019. The motorcycle is positioned on top of the Platina line-up and features a 115cc engine that comes mated to a five-speed transmission.
It stands out from the 100cc model with a fresh set of decals, different alloy wheels, rubber covers on the mirror stalks, thicker foam for the seat, and a blacked-out engine. The motorcycle also comes equipped with a semi-digital instrument cluster, and a gear shift guide - features that are missing on the standard Platina 110 and Platina 100.
The motorcycle features a 115cc, air-cooled engine that produces 8.5bhp of power and 9.81Nm of torque. The motor comes mated to a five-speed gearbox and the ‘H-Gear' in the name stands for the extra fifth gear that has been added for easier highway cruising.
Suspension duties handled by telescopic forks at the front, and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Braking duties are handled by drum brakes at both ends with an optional 240mm disc at the front. Both the variants feature get anti-skid braking as standard.
Bajaj offers the Platina 110 H-Gear in three colour options - Ebony Black with Blue decals, Ebony Black with Burgundy decals, and Cocktail Wine Red. The motorcycle competes with the TVS Victor, the TVS Star City Plus, the Yamaha Saluto Rx, the Honda Dream Neo, and the Hero Passion Pro 110.
In related news, Bajaj Auto recently increased prices for the Pulsar 150 range and the highly successful Bajaj Dominar 400. The price hike on these machines vary between Rs 479 and Rs 2,980 for the Pulsar 150, and by Rs 6,000 on the Dominar. To read more about these price hikes, click here.
Thoughts About The Price Hike on the Platina H-Gear
Well, Bajaj Auto seems to be having a field day. They're obviously unaffected by the lean period the rest of the industry is facing. We're not entirely sure why they have increased prices on commuter motorcycles though. Obviously these motorcycles sell in volumes, and production costs for them are comparatively lower than the Pulsar and Dominar series. We hope this increase in price does not effect sales too much.
