2020 Royal Enfield Classic Seen Testing — Upgrading The Gun

Royal Enfield has quietly been overhauling its 'everyday' fleet. The Royal Enfield Classic series is among the machines getting an upgrade. According to Motoriods.com, the 2020 Royal Enfield Classic has been spotted testing and they say the motorcycle will be more comfortable for long-distance bikers.

There are a few things that were seen on the motorcycle that was being tested. First, the tall windscreen. This windscreen is available for the current generation of Classic motorcycles as an optional.

The second thing were the seats. The motorcycle features split seats and they appear to be well padded. The rider's seat is without the signature spring set up, and the pillion seats are set higher than those on the current generation. Seating looks like the current Thunderbird set up. Higher rear seats allow for the motorcycle to be more stable than the current generation of the Classic series. The motorcycle also features a small backrest for the pillion.

There appears to be some changes to the chassis the swing arm as well. The engine block looks like it has been redesigned too. The disc brake at the front has been moved to the right side of the wheel and appears to be a different unit as compared to the ones on the current generation Classic series.

Mirror stems seem to be taller, and the tail light cluster and tun signal indicator get a new design. The Ceat tyres seems to be similar to the one on the current motorcycles. The footrests look more comfortable, are flat and offer more area for the rider and the pillion.

We assume the new 2020 Classic series will feature a much needed fuel gauge (considering there have been problems with the fuel indicators currently featured on the motorcycle. We also assume that build quality will improve helping the motorcycle to perform better.

The Royal Enfield Thunderbird family is also in the process of getting upgrades and we may see both the Classic and Thunderbird series arrive at the same time. There may be a slight revision to the price of these machines, but there is no confirmation just yet.

Thoughts About The New 2020 Royal Enfield Classic

Royal Enfield is finally upgrading its fleet. Smart move to have started with the highest selling series — the Classic. In addition to the changes noticed on the motorcycle that is being tested, we hope Royal Enfield makes more upgrades. The chassis needs more strength, engine mounts need to be reworked to reduce vibrations (vibrations deem the rear view mirrors useless, which is the case with the current generation), overall build quality needs an improvement, chrome work needs an improvement. The list can go on, really. But we're happy RE has made a start. Let's see what the next generation motorcycles have in store.
