2019 Mahindra Mojo ABS Images & Details Leaked Ahead Of Its Launch
The 2019 Mahindra Mojo ABS has been spotted. Images reveal exactly what we were hearing about the new Mahindra Mojo. The company is getting rid of the two variants that earlier made up the Mahindra Mojo line-up. Instead of the UT & XT variants, Mahindra will now be launching the Mahindra Mojo ABS variant.
The Mahindra Mojo has had quite a history. It was unveiled way before the 300cc segment kicked off in India. However, Mahindra kept testing it for a long time and the competition clearly made use of that time period to get ahead. The production-spec model was revealed at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo and it was finally launched in 2015.
The Mahindra Mojo wasn't exactly a hit with the masses but it quickly grew into a cult with rider groups cropping up across the country. Mahindra had to do something to get sales up and running, hence a low cost variant with a carburetted engine, conventional telescopic fork up front, single exhaust and MRF tyres was launched.
The new variant was called the UT and the top-spec model from earlier was called the XT. With the advent of newer competition, the Mahindra Mojo's sales didn't improve much. Finally, sales of the Mahindra Mojo were stopped earlier this year when the new safety norms kicked in on 01 April, 2019.
The new safety norms mandated all motorcycles with engine capacity above 125cc to be equipped with ABS. Mahindra has now equipped the Mojo with ABS and is ready to launch it in the market.
Images of the new 2019 Mahindra Mojo ABS have been posted by IAmABiker. The new Mahindra Mojo appears to be based on the older UT variant. It features a conventional telescopic fork and a single exhaust system. However, it does come with the premium features of the XT like fuel injection instead of a carburettor.
The older UT variant rode on MRF Nylogrip Zapper tyres while the XT made use of Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres. Now though, Mahindra seems to have taken the middle way out and has shod the new Mojo with Pirelli Angel CT tyres.
The new 2019 Mahindra Mojo then seems like a perfect blend between the two older variants with the addition of ABS. This way, Mahindra will still be able to keep costs in check while providing the best in terms of equipment. In terms of design, the new Mahindra Mojo remains the same as the older model.
It will still be powered by the same liquid-cooled, 295cc, single-cylinder engine with a maximum power output of 26.8bhp and a peak torque output of 30Nm. A 6-speed gearbox takes care of transmission duties. On the new model though, the sprocketing seems to have changed and hence it could be quicker off the line and peppier.
Thoughts On 2019 Mahindra Mojo ABS Images & Details Leaked Before Launch
The Mahindra Mojo UT used to cost Rs 1.49 lakh while the XT used to retail at Rs 1.70 lakh. If Mahindra had to add ABS to the XT model, its costs would go above the new 2019 Bajaj Dominar.
Hence, Mahindra has wisely made the choice of basing the model on the older UT variant with the addition of new features. Hence, we expect the new Mahindra Mojo to cost just under Rs 1.70 lakh (ex-showroom).
