Vimal Sumbly Might Join Royal Enfield Ahead Of Upcoming 650-Twins India Launch
Vimal Sumbly, ex-managing director, Triumph Motorcycles India is likely to join Royal Enfield soon.
Vimal Sumbly, ex-Managing Director, Triumph Motorcycles India is likely to join Royal Enfield soon. After leaving Triumph, earlier this month, Sumbly might soon be taking up a senior position in the sales and marketing vertical of the Eicher-owned motorcycle brand.
Although, both Royal Enfield and Sumbly are yet to confirm the new development. Sources from Autocar Professional India have stated, "Vimal Sumbly is heading to Royal Enfield and he will take up the role in the sales and marketing domain."
They further added, "Having worked for Bajaj Auto in the past, and being known for setting up the India operations for UK's Triumph Motorcycles, Sumbly brings to the table his expertise in driving sales for the premium motorcycle range."
"Not to forget, he had established Triumph's foothold in India when Harley-Davidson already had a solid presence in the premium motorcycle category. It could be logically understood that Royal Enfield looks at the strategic hiring of Sumbly just before the rollout of its premium 650cc twins."
Reports also suggest that Shaji Koshy, who is currently the head of Business for Royal Enfield in India is moving towards retirement age. Therefore the senior leadership is looking at experienced heads, to manage sales and marketing for the motorcycle brand.
There is also news suggesting Vimal Sumbly, may report to Koshy, a veteran in the industry with more than 12 years of experience with Royal Enfield.
Thoughts On Vimal Sumbly Joining Royal Enfield
There is no official information yet, from both Sumbly and Royal Enfield. However, the move is strategic from Royal Enfield, highlighting the company's aggressive plans with the upcoming launch of their 650 twins. The launch of their two motorcycles; the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 is expected during this year's festive season.
