Vespa And Aprilia 150 Scooters Spied With ABS — Launch Expected Soon
Piaggio is gearing up for the upcoming mandatory safety norms of April 2019, ahead of the start of the new year. The company is all set to update their Vespa 150 and the Aprilia SR150 scooters with ABS. spy images from Powerdrift showcase the ABS variants of both scooters for the first time.
The Vespa 150 is available in three trims: VXL, SXL and Elegante. The Aprilia SR150, on the other hand, comes in two variants - Standard and Race. Both scooters come with a starting price of Rs 92,722 (Vespa) and Rs 71,533 (Aprilia), respectively for their 150cc models. Both prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).
All variants of the Vespa 150 and the Aprilia 150 are expected to feature ABS. This translates to a slight increase in the overall prices of each scooter. Prices for both scooters are expected to go up by an estimate of Rs 8,000.
The Vespa is powered by a 150cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine. It produces 11.4bhp and 11.5Nm of peak torque. The Aprilia, on the other hand, comes powered by a 154cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine producing 10bhp and 10.5Nm of torque. Both scooters are further mated to a CVT gearbox.
Both scooters ride on 14-inch wheels, wrapped in MRF tyres. The scooters come with a 220mm disc at the front while the rear makes use of 140mm drum brakes. The suspension on both scooters is handled by telescopic front forks and a monoshock at the rear.
Thoughts On The Vespa 150 & Aprilia 150 With ABS
Piaggio is one of the many motorcycle brands in the country, readying their products for the April 2019 update. The safety norms of April 2019, will make it mandatory for all two-wheelers above 125cc to feature ABS while smaller capacity offerings will feature a CBS system. We can expect a similar update on the 125cc models of the brand as well soon.
