The UM Renegade Thor was launched in India at the Auto Expo 2018. While the Renegade Thor is India's first electric cruiser bike, UM also claims that the Renegade Thor is the world's first electric cruiser.
The Renegade Thor features a classic cruiser design, with chrome, silver and tan elements. The UM Motorcycles Renegade Thor, being an electric cruiser, lacks a silencer (and the 'thump' which would've came along with it). But the Renegade Thor comes with some other features to compensate that.
UM Renegade Thor Design Features
Besides the electric motor, the UM Renegade Thor features a design similar to any other average cruiser. It has a considerably-long wheelbase, low-slung seat and a raised handlebar. Chrome elements give the UM electric cruiser, a classic vibe.
One glance at the side profile and you will instantly notice something unusual. The electric motor and battery unit of the UM Renegade Thor fills up all the central portion. The electric Renegade Thor features a conventional fuel tank too, only for the looks.

Coming to the rear, the UM Thor features an LED tail lamp and a soft-tail mudguard. The electric cruiser doesn't get a pillion backrest, although the seats are wide and comfortable.
UM Renegade Thor Electric Motor
The asynchronous 3-phase electric motor of the Renegade Thor is coupled to a Lithium-Polymer high-power battery unit. The motorcycle supports fast-charging too.
Another interesting feature of the Renegade Thor is that it has a 5-speed gearbox with a hydraulic clutch. Addition of a gearbox to an electric motor is an extra burden for engineers, but UM Motorcycles has managed to employ it to give the cruiser, a good riding experience.
The Renegade Thor also features a reverse gear for added convenience. Electric power is sent to the rear wheels via a belt drive.
UM Renegade Thor Safety Features
The UM Thor features a 280mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc. The UM Renegade Thor also gets ABS as standard.
Other UM Renegade Thor Features
UM Motorcycles have confirmed that the owners of the new electric Renegade Thor will be getting two years of free electric charging. The charging facilities are set up at the various UM dealerships across the country.
The UM Renegade Thor also features a digital instrument-console. However, the size of the console is too small for everybody's liking.
Thoughts On The UM Renegade Thor Top Features
The UM Renegade Thor is the only electric cruiser bike sold in India as of now. Being an electric cruiser, the Renegade Thor will offer a riding experience like no other. The inclusion of a 5-speed gearbox, a reverse gear and a traditional styling, makes this electric cruiser a rather ‘different' option for riders.
