TVS NTorq 125 Launched At Rs 58,750 — A Scooter With Smart Connectivity For The Smart Generation
TVS Ntorq 125 launched in India at Rs 58,750. The launch of the new TVS Ntorq 125 sees the Graphite concept make it into production and TVS enter the 125cc scooter market.
TVS NTorq 125 launched in India. Prices for the TVS NTorq 125 start at Rs 58,750 ex-showroom (Delhi). The launch of the new NTorq 125 in India sees TVS finally enter the 125cc scooter segment. The newly launched TVS NTorq 125 is the production version of the Graphite concept scooter seen at the 2014 Auto Expo.
The TVS NTorq 125 has been targeted at the younger generation, which according to TVS seeks convenience, comfort, ease and safety. Styling for the scooter has been inspired by stealth fighter aircraft and the scooter features sharp lines and an overall aggressive design with a chiseled front apron. Also contributing to the design aspect is experience from TVS Racing.
Overall dimensions and basic design is retained from the TVS Graphite concept, but intricate details like the unique LED daytime running lights are all fresh. It also has a signature LED tail lamp design. The sporty design of the scooter is further accentuated by the stubby muffler, which with its unique beat makes the scooter sound good.
The scooter is powered by an air-cooled, single-cylinder 125cc CVTi Revv engine. With a maximum power output of 9.27bhp @7,500 rpm and class leading torque of 10.4Nm, the TVS Ntorq boasts of the fastest acceleration in its class and a top speed of 95 km/h.
It also has several other features like auto choke, intelligent ignition system, split type intake design, foam-on-paper air filter and a unique oil cooling system for the combustion chamber.
The USP of the TVS Ntorq though, is its Smart Connect technology. It uses Bluetooth to connect to smartphones and as part of this, it gets Navigation assist which displays turn-by-turn directions on the segment-first LCD screen.
The LCD screen instrument cluster alone has 55 unique features including top speed recorder, lap timer, phone battery strength display, last parked location assist, average speed and multiple ride statistic modes like sports and street. It can also display incoming caller names and text messages an features an auto-reply feature to let incoming callers know that the user is riding.
Premium scooter features like external fuel filler cap, engine kill switch, pass by switch, parking brakes, dual-side handle lock, USB mobile phone charger and large 22L under-seat storage space are all part of the TVS NTorq 125 package.
TVS has kept in mind safety as well, equipping the scooter with wide, grippy 110/80-12 sized tubeless tyres wrapped on sporty-looking alloy wheels. It also comes with a segment-first petal-disc brake up-front as standard.
Based on a brand new frame, the TVS NTorq 125 features new suspension as well. It also features an ergonomic posture for dynamic riding and TVS has claimed that this allows for motorcycle like cornering and nimble handling.
The TVS NTorq 125 will be available in Matte Yellow, Matte Green, Matte Red and Matte White colours.
DriveSpark Thinks!
The TVS NTorq is a scooter which is not as radical as the concept displayed at the Indian Auto Expo 2018. However, it is a lot more futuristic and better equipped than other scooters in its segment. The TVS NTorq 125 will compete with the Honda Grazia, which recently achieved the landmark of selling 50,000 units in just 2.5 months.
With the Aprilia SR 125 set to be launched at the Indian Auto Expo 2018, the TVS NTorq has its competition cut out. But with features like the LCD screen, smart connect and aggressive styling, it seems like the TVS NTorq will do well in the World's largest two wheeler market.
