Triumph Unveils Moto2 Bike For 2019 Season — To Debut At British GP
British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph Motorcycles has revealed the 765cc Moto2 bike for the 2019 season. The bike was unveiled at Triumph's headquarters in Hinckley. The new Moto2 bike also showcased its capabilities on a dyno-run in front of MotoGP riders such as Luca Marini, Sam Lowes, Danny Kent and John McPhee.
The Triumph Moto2 bike will make its debut at this weekend's British GP at the Silverstone race track. Former WSBK champion, James Toseland will ride the Triumph Moto2 765 on a parade lap and the bike will feature the Union Jack livery finished in black colour.
In 2019, Triumph will be the sole manufacturer to supply the engine for the Moto2 class which was introduced in 2010. The Moto2 class was introduced to replace the 250cc class and the engines were sourced from Honda. The Moto2 bikes utilised the 600cc four-stroke engine derived from the Honda CBR600RR.
Compared to the MotoGP bikes, the Moto2 machines are just a few seconds slower on the racing circuit. Now, with the introduction of the bigger 765cc engines, the difference in performance will be even narrower.
The 2019 Moto2 bikes will draw power a 765cc in-line, three-cylinder engine derived from the Triumph Street Triple RS naked motorcycle. The 2019 Moto2 bikes will be also equipped with Magneti Marelli ECU which enhances the performance of the bike and the riders will get a proper MotoGP experience on the bike.
Currently, the 2019 Moto2 engines are being tested by the chassis manufacturers. The Triumph Moto2 bike will make its official debut during the MotoGP testing which will take place after the end of 2018 season. The 2019 season of the Moto2 championship will be exciting as the bikes will be more competitive.
Chief Product Office of Triumph Motorcycles, Steve Sargent said, "We are very pleased with the progress to date and impressed with the level of passion and effort from the chassis teams, the riders, the ECU team Magneti Marelli, Exernpro, and Dorna in developing the new generation of Moto2 motorcycles."
Thoughts On The Triumph Moto2 Bike
Triumph has finally unveiled the new Moto2 bike for the 2019 season with the Street Triple RS derived 765cc engine. The Moto2 bike is also equipped with Magneti Marelli ECU, which makes the bike even more competitive. In 2019, the Moto2 bikes will be even closer to the MotoGP bikes with advanced technology.
