Triumph Street Triple RS Recalled In India Over Switchgear Issue
British superbike manufacturer Triumph Motorcycles has issued a safety recall for the Street Triple RS in India. The company has stated that around 100 units of Triumph Street Triple RS will be recalled in the country.
Triumph has stated that the dealerships will contact the owners of the affected motorcycles and will rectify the issue, but the company did not specify whether the faulty parts will be repaired or replaced. The reason behind the safety recall is an issue with the left-hand switch cube on certain Street Triple RS models.
The issue with the switchgear causes the indicators and the main beam to malfunction as the water enters the internals of the switchgear. An improper sealing during manufacture can cause the water to enter during rain or even washing the bike.
The issue with the left switchgear of the Triumph Street Triple RS can result in an electrical problem which causes the turn indicators, horn and the headlight malfunction. It might be a serious issue if the headlight fails during night rides and the rider might end up in a crash.
The Triumph Street Triple RS was launched in India in 2017 with a price tag of Rs 10.55 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). Triumph offers two variants of the Street Triple in the country: Street Triple S and the top-spec Street Triple RS, the model affected by this safety recall. The S variant of the motorcycle does not have any such problems.
The Triumph Street Triple RS draws power from a 765cc inline, three-cylinder engine producing a 121bhp and 77Nm of torque. The Triumph Street Triple RS features several updates as compared to the outgoing model and gets 80 new parts to improve the performance of the bike.
Thoughts On The Triumph Street Triple RS Recall
Triumph has recalled the Street Triple RS over switchgear issue. The problem might be a small one but the consequences might be serious as a malfunctioning headlight can cause an accident. The Triumph dealerships will contact the owners of the affected bikes and will fix the fault in the left switchgear cube.
