Suzuki Intruder 150: Top Things To Know About The Bajaj Avenger Rival
The Suzuki Intruder was launched in India at Rs 99,995 ex-showroom (Delhi). Earlier this year, the Suzuki Intruder FI variant was also launched. The fuel-injected variant is costlier than the carbureted variant at Rs 1.06 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
The Suzuki Intruder 150 shares the same engine as the Gixxer 150 in India. The cruiser is powered by a 154.9cc air-cooled engine that makes 14.8bhp and 14Nm of torque. The power figures are identical for both FI and carb variants. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
That said, here are some things to know about the Suzuki Intruder 150!
Suzuki Intruder: Top Speed & Acceleration
Although having the same engine as the Gixxer, the Intruder 150 is almost 13kg heavier than the naked motorcycle. Hence, the Intruder 150 has a lesser claimed top speed of 115km/h. The top speed on the FI variant will be slightly higher.
The entry-level cruiser can accelerate from 0-100km/h in around 19 seconds. The FI variant takes almost two seconds less to do the same, with a 0-100km/h time of 17 seconds.
Suzuki Intruder: Mileage & Fuel Capacity
While the carburetted and fuel-injected versions produce identical power outputs, the mileage figures are different on each; the FI variant having more.
The regular Suzuki Intruder 150 has a claimed mileage* of 44km/l. The Intruder 150 FI, on the hand, gives a mileage of 48km/l.
*Real-world mileage figures could be higher or lower depending on riding style, road conditions and engine health.
The fuel tank capacity of the entry-level cruiser is decent at 11 litres.
Suzuki Intruder: Kerb Weight & Dimensions
Being a cruiser, the Suzuki Intruder is supposed to be bulky (a lot in its case) and heavy. At a kerb weight of 148kg, the Intruder is heavier than the naked Gixxer by 13kg. The weight comes in the form of the overly-protruding body panels and the quirky headlamp-fork unit.
The FI variant is 1kg heavier than the carb model.
Coming to the overall dimensions, the Suzuki Intruder 150 is 2050mm in length, has a width of 785mm and a height of 1030mm.
Suzuki Intruder: Seat Height & Ground Clearance
The Intruder 150 gives a ‘low' riding experience with a seat height of 740mm. The 150cc cruiser has got ground clearance at 170mm; enough to take on most undulations.
The wheelbase stands at 1405mm.
Suzuki Intruder: Wheels & Brakes
The Suzuki Intruder 150 rides on 100/80 R17 and 140/60 R17 front and rear tyres. The 17-inch three-spoke alloy wheels, finished in black, are the same as on the Gixxer.
The motorcycle gets a 266mm and 220mm disc brakes at the front and rear, respectively. Safety is further increased by a single-channel (front) ABS.
Suzuki Intruder: Colours
The Suzuki Intruder 150 is available only in two colour schemes:
- Metallic Grey + Metallic Matte Black
- Glass Sparkle Black + Metallic Matte Titanium Silver
Verdict
The Suzuki Intruder 150 is inspired from the bigger and powerful Intruder M1800R. The motorcycle has got decent performance and fuel-efficiency while offering a relaxed riding posture. The main downside of the motorcycle is its looks. The Intruder 150 is a bad-looking motorcycle (especially when viewed from the rear) with its extra-bulky body and skinny tyres.
But in terms of usability and practicality, the Suzuki Intruder 150 is a fitting rival to the Bajaj Avenger 150.
