Suzuki To Introduce Four New Dirt Bikes In India
Japanese two-wheeler maker Suzuki is all set to introduce four dirt bikes in the Indian market which will be retailed as CBU (Completely Built Units). Autocar India reports that the dealers have already received few units of the RM-Z250 and it will be followed by other models.
The report states that Suzuki will launch four dirt bikes in India which includes the DR-Z50, RM-Z250, RM-Z450 and the RMX450Z. The DR-Z50 is a bike meant for kids and will be priced at Rs 2.65 lakh.
The RM-Z250 will carry a price tag of Rs 7.20 lakh, the RM-Z450 will cost Rs 8.40 lakh and the RMX450Z will carry a price tag of Rs 8.75 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom (India).
All the four dirt bikes from Suzuki are not road-legal as they are not equipped with headlights, turn indicators, tail lights and tyres for road use. The motorcycles are very light and are intended to use under controlled conditions or in competitions.
The Suzuki DR-Z50 is targeted towards young buyers, it is powered by a 49cc four-stroke, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. The kerb weight of the dirt bike stands at just 54kg and the seat height is 560mm.
The Suzuki RM-Z250 is a full-size dirt bike with a 250cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. The bike is equipped with KYB adjustable suspension at both the ends. The kerb of the RM-Z250 stands at 106 and the seat height measures 955mm.
On the other hand, the Suzuki RM-Z450 draws power from a 449cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder. The bike is very light with a kerb weight of 112kg and seat height of 960mm. The RMX450Z also uses the same engine and it is equipped with a headlight for enduro riding.
The Suzuki dirt bikes will take on the Kawasaki KX and KLX range, but the Kawasaki offers a wide range of dirt bikes which also includes KLX110 and the KLX140G. Kawasaki also offers a two-stroke dirt bike, the KX100. Although it is a niche segment, it is good to see Suzuki jumping into the dirt bike segment in India.
Thoughts On The Suzuki Dirt Bikes
Suzuki has finally decided to launch its dirt bikes in the Indian market which also includes a mini bike intended for kids. The off-road enthusiasts will be happy to know that Suzuki is also bringing the 450cc bikes which has a kerb weight similar to a moped. But the only downside of the bike are they are imported units and will be an expensive affair to buy one.
