Royal Enfield Himalayan ABS Bookings Open — Launch Next Month

According to a Royal Enfield dealer in Bangalore, the Himalayan ABS will be launched in another 20 days, which means next month. The dealers are already accepting bookings for the Himalayan ABS and it will be launched with a premium of Rs 12,000-15,000. Currently, the Himalayan is priced at Rs 1.68 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).

The Royal Enfield Himalayan ABS will be equipped with the same ABS unit which is seen on the recently launched Classic Signals 350. But it will be interesting to see if the Himalayan gets a switchable ABS, which is common among the adventure bikes.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan ABS will draw power from the same 411cc air-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that produces 24.5bhp and 32Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Apart from the addition of the ABS, there will be no other changes done to the motorcycle.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan ABS will be equipped with the same 41mm forks at the front with 200mm travel and monoshock suspension at the rear with a travel of 180mm travel. Braking duties are handled by 300mm disc at the front and 240mm disc at the rear with ABS sourced from Bosch.

Thoughts On The Royal Himalayan ABS

The addition of the ABS will make the Royal Enfield Himalayan an impressive adventure motorcycle for the price it demands. Royal Enfield will also introduce ABS on other bikes such as the Classic 500 and the Thunderbird range. We expect other manufacturers to follow the same.
