Royal Enfield has launched the new Classic Signals 350 with ABS in the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 1.62 lakh ex-showroom (Pune). Now, the company is all set to introduce the Classic 500 ABS and the Himalayan ABS in the country.

Yes, on the sidelines of the launch of the Classic Signals 350, President of Royal Enfield, Rudratej Singh confirmed that the Classic 500 ABS and the Himalayan ABS will introduced in the country. He stated that both the bikes with ABS will be launched by the end of next month or in the beginning of October.

Royal Enfield will introduce ABS only on the Classic 500 range and not the Thunderbird 500. The company aims to roll-out on all its models before the deadline of April 2019. The Himalayan ABS will be a crucial product for the company as it is the most affordable adventure bike in the Indian market.

The company has also stated that after the introduction of the Classic 500 ABS, the non-ABS models will still remain on sale until the stocks last. So, the non-ABS Classic 500 range will not be discontinued. By April 2019, we can expect all the Royal Enfield bikes to be equipped with ABS.

The Royal Enfield Classic 500 draws power from a 499cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 27.2bhp and 41.3Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. All the mechanical components will remain unchanged except for disc brakes at both the ends.

On the other hand, the Royal Enfield Himalayan draws power from a 411cc air-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine that is tuned to produce 24.5bhp and 32Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to a 5-speed gearbox. The Himalayan already gets disc brakes at both the ends.

From April 1, 2019, all the two-wheelers above 125cc should be equipped with ABS. So, Royal Enfield will introduce ABS on all the bikes ahead of the deadline. With the addition of ABS, the Himalayan and the Classic 500, the motorcycles will be safer to ride and the overall braking performance will be better.
