Royal Enfield 650cc Models To Launch Today — Everything About The Royal Enfield 650 Twins
The new Royal Enfield 650cc models will launch in India, today. The much-awaited Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 (aka the 650 twins) were first unveiled at EICMA 2017, and it has been a year since fans have started to wait for them. Now, after a lot of anticipation, rumours and enquiries, the new Royal 650cc motorcycles will finally reach India.
Bookings for the 650 twins will also start today, as expected. Our sources have revealed that the booking amount for the new Royal Enfield models stands at Rs 5000. Meanwhile, deliveries will commence only in January 2019.
We had earlier reported that the new Royal Enfield Continental GT and Interceptor 650 will be priced competitively to make a market of their own. Prices for the Royal Enfield 650cc Twins has been revealed ahead of launch. The two motorcycles will come with a starting price of Rs 2.34 lakh, ex-showroom.
This makes the ex-showroom (Bangalore) price of the Interceptor 650, a ballpark figure of Rs 3.25 lakh. As for the more premium Continental GT 650, the ex-showroom price will be close to Rs 3.40 lakh. The prices of the 650 twins will be slightly lower towards the northern side of India.
Royal Enfield already launched the new 650cc models in certain global markets; most of which are in Europe. Both the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650 were showcased at the recent EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy.
The new Royal Enfield Continental GT and Interceptor 650 models are powered by a 649cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine which makes 47bhp and 52Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and comes with a slipper clutch, as standard.
Other features on the 650cc Royal Enfield twins include the retro-inspired design theme, twin-exhausts, dual-channel ABS and gas-charged rear suspension. The 650 twins can also be opted with a host of official Royal Enfield accessories.
With the launch of the Royal Enfield 650cc models in India, we will see two value-for-money parallel-twin motorcycles on the market. The 650 twins will also be a much cheaper alternative to the Harley-Davidson Street 750 and Triumph Bonneville Street Twin.
