New Jawa Perak Bobber Review (First Look): The Factory Custom Jawa, Everyone Wants
The new Jawa Perak bobber came as a surprise at the launch of the new Jawa motorcycles for India. Jawa Motorcycles has finally made a comeback with three new models: Jawa, Jawa 42 and Jawa Perak; among which the factory custom Perak bobber grabbed the most attention.
While the Jawa and Jawa 42 have been launched at a price of Rs 1.64 lakh and 1.55 lakh, respectively, the Jawa Perak bobber will be priced at Rs 1.89 lakh, when it is made available at a later stage. All prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).
Here is a first look review of the new Jawa Perak bobber; its design, engine, features and the lot explained. We will share a detailed first ride report of the Jawa Perak bobber, once we get to experience the motorcycle in the not-too-distant future.
Design & Styling
The looks are the main highlight of the Jawa Perak bobber. In fact, when the three new Jawa motorcycles were unveiled, all eyes were on the Perak bobber. The factory custom bobber brought classic motorcycle styling to a new and attainable level with its design inspired by the original Jawa Perak from the early 1950s.
At the front, the Jawa Perak features a blacked-out round headlamp and a wide handlebar with bar-end mirrors. We can also see the interesting horn position underneath it, finished with a "Jawa" badge.
The side profile of the Jawa Perak bobber is where the design of the motorcycle really stands out. The single-seat layout is further assisted by the extended swingarm-monoshock construction. The exhaust has been chopped off while the majority of the frame is visible.
At the rear, the Perak bobber follows a minimal yet unique approach. The rear mudguard remains exposed and the turn signals flank it. The tail lamp is located underneath the seat.
Engine, Specifications & Mileage
Unlike the other Jawa motorcycles launched in the country, the Jawa uses a different engine. The upcoming Jawa Perak is powered by a larger 334cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine which makes close to 30bhp and 31Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission.
Jawa Motorcycles said that the engine of the Perak will be tuned to provide a unique riding experience, typical to a bobber motorcycle. The engine still has the roots of the other 293cc unit (makes 27bhp and 28Nm), but comes with a bigger bore.
The short-cut twin-exhaust setup promises a good engine note too. The regular 293cc engine on the other Jawa motorcycles sounds good (check out the engine sound here) and we hope that the unit on the Perak bobber will be even better to hear.
The Jawa Perak has the same 14-litre as the other Jawas, but being a bit more powerful, expect it to have slightly lesser mileage. The ‘Jawa' and Forty Two returns close to 30 – 35km/l.

Features & Colours
Jawa Motorcycles is yet to share all the details of their factory custom, the Perak bobber. A factory custom is essentially an alternatively-styled or heavily-modified version of a regular model, available from the brand itself. Usually, a wide range of customisation choices are available for such models.
Besides the interesting design features, the Jawa Perak has the same single-pod instrument console as on the other models. The bobber also comes with a disc brake at both ends, along with an ABS unit. The rear wheel is wider too.
The Satin Grey Jawa Perak shown in the picture looks really good and we expect Jawa Motorcycles to bring a range of interesting shades at the time of its launch. Theremight also be a few colour choices for the leather seat or saddle, as well.
Competition
The ‘Jawa' and Jawa 42 can be considered as a rival to the Royal Enfield Classic 350. However, the Jawa Perak bobber doesn't have a direct rival at all. Once launched, the Jawa Perak will be the cheapest bobber-style motorcycle on the market.
Booking Details & Delivery
The new Jawa motorcycles can be booked at the brand's official website at a booking amount of Rs 5000. The bookings for the Perak will be opened at a later stage, while deliveries of the other models are set for January 2019.
Verdict
The Jawa Perak was certainly a shocker for Indian motorcycle enthusiasts and even Royal Enfield fans. Many are eagerly waiting for the brand to unveil more details of the Jawa Perak bobber. We also got to know that a good number of potential customers have already called various Mahindra motorcycle dealerships to get more details of the upcoming Jawa Perak bobber.
