2018 Honda Navi Top Features: Quirky Styling, Telescopic Suspension, Customisations, HET & More
2018 Honda Navi Top Features: The new Honda Navi was launched in India at Rs 44,775 ex-showroom (Delhi). The new model carries only subtle cosmetic updates over the previous model and is based on the brand's big-seller, the Activa.
The 2018 Honda Navi is powered by the existing 109cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine; the same one which powers the Activa. The engine makes 8bhp and 9Nm of torque.
The Honda Navi is a unique product with a set of characteristics of its own. There is nothing else on the market which looks similar to the Honda Navi. That said, here are the top features of the new 2018 Honda Navi!
Quirky Styling
The Honda Navi employs a unique design, lying somewhere between a scooter and a motorcycle. It has got all the mechanicals of a conventional scooter while the seating position is upright and identical to a motorcycle. This characteristic of the Honda Navi is also the main reason why people opt it over anything else.
Telescopic Suspension
While the Honda Navi is essentially a scooter, it does have a telescopic suspension; something most other scooters still lack today. At the rear, the Honda Navi comes with a monoshock suspension.
Tubeless Tyres
The Honda Navi also comes with tubeless tyres. Most four-wheelers and two-wheelers come with tubeless tyres today. The advantage of tubeless tyres is that they do not puncture as easily as regular tyres. Even if a puncture occurs on a tubeless tyre, air dissipates much slower than a normal tyre. Tubeless tyres are lighter too.
Customisations
The Honda Navi is available with a range of customisations, limited to just cosmetic enhancements. The 2018 Honda Navi has six kits to choose from. These kits mainly include custom body kits such as windscreen, engine guard and grab rails, plus some unique graphics. A lot of Navi owners do aftermarket customisations too.
HET Engine
Almost all Honda motorcycles and scooters sold in India come with the brand's HET (Honda Eco Technology) engines. HET delivers a good balance between performance and fuel efficiency, through improved combustion, reduced friction and lighter engine components.
Unique Seating Position
As mentioned earlier, the Honda Navi is an amalgamation of a bike and scooter, in terms of design. The Navi employs a bench seat and has got a front-mounted fuel tank, just as in conventional motorcycles. Though the seat isn't the most comfortable, it does give the rider a unique seating position, combined with the upright handlebar.
Thoughts On The Honda Navi
The Honda Navi is a love-it-or-hate-it two-wheeler. While some find the Navi quite interesting to both look at and ride, some others just can't sink in its weird styling. But from a market perspective, the Honda Navi is one of the lowest-selling scooters from the Japanese brand in India. The main reason for this is that the Honda Navi is more of a want rather than a need.
