Mahindra Mojo Electric Spotted Testing — Can We Expect A Launch Soon?
An electric version of the Mahindra Mojo has been spotted testing in Bangalore, India. The motorcycle is possibly a prototype for future technology.
Mahindra Two-Wheelers is reportedly working on an all-electric version of their Mojo offering in India. Spy images of the electric Mahindra Mojo has been spotted outside a Bosch factory in Bangalore.
Although there are no details yet on the electric powertrain, the images do showcase certain differences from the standard version. As seen in the spy image, the Mahindra Mojo misses out on the exhaust system and the gear shifter, while the engine area is now fully covered. The images also showcase a belt drive system, which replaces the chain and sprocket system on the standard model.

Mahindra is one of the few manufacturers to offer electric cars in the country, with their E2O offering. Also, with the Indian government keen on encouraging electric vehicles in India, there is a high possibility for the company to introduce electric two-wheelers as well.
The electric version of the Mojo seen in the image might just be a prototype, testing out a future technology. Although, there is no details regarding the electric version of the Mojo, reports do suggest a possible launch in the coming years.
Currently, the Mahindra Mojo is powered by a 295cc single-cylinder engine. It produces 27.2bhp and 30Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed transmission. The Mahindra Mojo currently weighs around 165kg, however, the electric version will be slightly heavier due to the motor and the batteries.
Mahindra offers the Mojo in two variants: XT300 and UT300. However, the company has failed to make an impact in the 300cc segment.
Mahindra has already launched their GenZe electric scooter in the US. Recently, the Mahindra was also seen testing the GenZe electric scooter in India.
Thoughts On The Mahindra Mojo Electric
With the Mahindra Mojo electric and the GenZe already spied testing in India, can we see Mahindra being the first mainstream manufacturer to introduce electric two-wheelers in the Indian market. If the electric Mahindra Mojo is launched, the motorcycle will not have any direct rivals in India.
