KTM Duke 390 Recalled In India For A Compulsory Monsoon Kit Fitment
KTM India has recalled all 2017 and 2018 Duke 390 models in the country. The company calls it a compulsory ‘Monsoon Kit Fitment’.
KTM has recalled the 2017 and 2018 models of their Duke 390 offering. The company has asked all their Duke 390 customers to bring in their motorcycle for a 'Monsoon Kit Fitment'.
As part of the recall, KTM will be inspecting and also replacing different parts of the Duke 390. These include a new ECU bracket and pillion seat damping bushes. The company will also provide a solution for the commonly-faced headlamp vibration issue, reported by multiple customers.
KTM will also flash a software update on the motorcycles, if necessary. This flash will be due to multiple complaints regarding the headlamps turning-off, randomly. The company is said to provide all these new updates to all customers for free.
The new ECU bracket will now come with a protective cover to prevent entry of water, dust or other elements. KTM has also redesigned the damping bushes to increase the gap between the rear seat and the tail light. Earlier, customers complained of the lights cracking when riding with a pillion.
Since the launch of the updated Duke 390 in January 2017, the motorcycle has been facing multiple complaints about various faults. These faults included, random restarts of the TFT display, headlights not switching off, LED lights turning off randomly, fuel leakage and loss of charge on battery for no reason. KTM has been, however, updating the software since the very beginning.
The KTM Duke 390 is powered by a 373cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. It produces 43.5bhp and 37Nm of torque. Braking on the Duke 390 is handled by single 320mm and 230mm front and rear discs, respectively. The KTM Duke 390 uses the suspension system from WP, including a 43mm dia upside down front forks and a monoshock at the rear.
Thoughts On The KTM Duke 390 Recall In India
KTM has issued the Duke 390 recall, silently in India. Although, the company calls it a ‘Monsoon Kit Fitment', which they have made compulsory. As part of the recall, all customers of the 2017 and 2018 Duke 390 models will be informed to bring in their motorcycles for inspection. All the upgrades as part of the recall will be done free of cost to the customer.
