Kawasaki Hike Prices Of Ninja ZX-10R And ZX-10RR In India

Kawasaki has increased the prices of their two litre-class offerings, the ZX-10R and the ZX-10RR in India. The prices for both motorcycles has increased by Rs 50,000.

Kawasaki has increased the prices of their two litre-class offerings, the ZX-10R and the ZX-10RR in India. The 2018 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and the Ninja ZX-10RR were introduced in the country earlier this year. The brand has now increased the prices of both the models at around Rs 50,000.

Kawasaki dealerships in Bangalore have informed us that the new prices are now Rs 16.5 lakh and Rs 21 lakh for the ZX-10R and the ZX-10RR, respectively. Both prices are on-road (Bangalore).

According to dealerships, both models launched in June came with introductory prices. These prices were supposed to be either till the first batch of motorcycles were sold out or till the 1st July 2018.

Along with the increase in prices in July, the new regulation mandating the requirement for a third-party insurance also played a role in the price hike of the two motorcycles.

The CKD operations of the two litre-class motorcycles in India, began earlier this year. Both motorcycles are assembled in India, alongside a number of other offerings from the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer. These include the Ninja 300, Ninja 650, Z650 and the Z900.

The locally assembled Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, even with the price hike is still one of the most-affordable litre-class superbike available in the country.

Both motorcycles also come with similar features and powertrain. The two superbikes are powered by the same 998cc, four-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. It produces 197bhp and 113.5Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed gearbox with a quick shifter.

However, the more track-focused Ninja ZX-10RR comes with a number of race-inspired features. Some of these features include forged aluminium wheels, modified cylinder head, reinforced crankcases and Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres.

The two motorcycles come with 43mm inverted front forks and a monoshock at the rear. Both front and rear suspension offer compression damping and spring preload adjustability. Braking is handled by Brembo's dual 330mm and a single 220mm disc at the front and rear, respectively.

Other features on the 2018 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and the ZX10RR: Launch Control Mode (KLCM), Intelligent Anti-lock Braking System (KIBS), Sports Traction Control (S-KTRC), Engine Braking Control, Quick Shifter for both upshifts and downshifts (only on the ZX-10RR) and Corner Management Function (KCMF).

The increase in price for the two litre-class motorcycle was expected, as the initial pricing was just introductory. However, even with the price hike, the two motorcycles are still the most affordable, among its competition.

In India, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR rival the likes of the Suzuki GSX-R1000, Ducati Panigale V4, BMW S1000RR and the Aprilia RSV4-RF.
