Mahindra & Mahindra acquired the Jawa and BSA brands in 2016 as part of its premium two-wheeler venture. Since then, the Jawa enthusiasts are waiting for the classic bikes to enter the Indian market.

Now, Autocar Pro reports that the upcoming Jawa bikes will make use of Mojo's 300cc engine platform. The report also states that the first Jawa bike will hit the Indian roads by the end of 2018 or early 2019. Expect the first Jawa to be launched by the festive season of 2018.

The first Jawa bike will displace around 300cc and will draw power from the same engine platform of the Mahindra Mojo. But the engine will be tuned differently to match the characteristics of the Jawa bike.

The new Jawa bikes will be developed by Mahindra's Classic Legends brand. The sources close to the development has revealed that the Mojo's 300cc engine is scalable and can be used as per model profiling of the Jawa and BSA bikes.

By using the Mojo's engine platform for the Jawa, Mahindra will save a lot of investment and time. Mahindra states that the current engine platform of Mojo remains underutilised as Mojo has not performed to the expectations in India.
