KTM owned, Husqvarna Motorcycles will introduce two new bikes in India by early 2019. The two motorcycles: Vitpilen 401 and the Swartpilen 401 will be produced in Bajaj’s Chakan plant by end of 2018.
KTM owned, Husqvarna Motorcycles have announced its entry into the Indian market. The company will roll out the Vitpilen and Swartpilen 401 as their first motorcycles for India, sometime in 2019.
The Vitpilen 401 comes with a retro, cafe racer styling. While the Swartpilen 401 will be based on the more relaxed, scrambler style. Both motorcycles are also expected to be produced in India.
A note from KTM released a year ago, stated that the production of the two motorcycles will take place at Bajaj's Chakan plant in Pune. Production is said to start by the end of this year.
In a move to scale up the business, Husqvarna motorcycles will commence the production of the Vitpilen 401, Swartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 701. These motorcycles will initially be produced in Austria. During the latter part of 2018, global production will shift to Bajaj's Chakan plant in Pune.
The expansion of Husqvarna Motorcycles will also give a boost and strengthen the partnership between Bajaj Auto and KTM. The two companies recently celebrated their 10th partnership anniversary.
The two motorcycles, Vitpilen and Swartpilen are based on the KTM Duke 390. Both motorcycles will also be priced similarly. The two Husqvarna offerings will carry forward the same 373cc engine from the KTM. It produces 44bhp and 37Nm of torque. The engine is further mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Apart from the engine, the two Husqvarna motorcycles will also borrow other components as well. These include the chassis, brakes and suspensions.
