Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 Spied Testing In India
KTM-owned Husqvarna Motorcycles’ Svartpilen 401 spied testing ahead in India for the first time.
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 has been spotted testing in India. The motorcycle is based on the KTM 390 Duke and is expected to launch in India, sometime next year.
The spy image showcases a completely camouflaged motorcycle, fitted with KTM parts. These include the wheels, rear body grab rails and the engine cover. The Svartpilen 401 is one of the two motorcycles to be launched by Husqvarna in India, along with the Vitpilen 401. Both motorcycles will use the same engine as seen on the KTM 390 Duke.

The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 is a relaxed scrambler-style motorcycle, while the Vitpilen 401 comes with a retro, cafe racer styling. Both motorcycles will be manufactured in India at Bajaj's Chakan plant in Pune. Production is said to start from the end of the year.
Both motorcycles feature minimalistic styling. The Svartpilen 401 comes with rounded LED headlamps, an upright seating position and wide handlebars. The motorcycle also features a compact fully-digital instrument cluster, rear grab handle, as well as a tyre hugger.
Both motorcycles will be powered by a 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine borrowed from KTM. The engine produces 43bhp and 37Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed transmission.
Unlike the test mule, the production version of the Svartpilen will ride on 17-inch wire spoke tube tyres. The motorcycle will also come with features such as anti-hopping slipper clutch and ride-by-wire as standard.
The suspension will be handled by USD front forks and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. While the motorcycle uses 320mm and 230mm disc at the front and rear, respectively. The motorcycle will additionally also come with dual-channel ABS as standard.
Thoughts On The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 Spied Testing
KTM expects the Husqvarna motorcycles to sell more than their 390 offerings. The Husqvarna motorcycles do not have any direct competition due to their cafe racer and scrambler styling. The motorcycles once launched, is expected to be priced at a premium of around Rs 2.60 lakh, ex-showroom.
