Hero Karizma ZMR 2018 Launched In India — Prices Start At Rs 1.08 lakh
Hero Karizma ZMR 2018 Launched In India: After a gap of over a year and a half, Hero MotoCorp has silently launched the new 2018 Karizma ZMR in India. As of now, the motorcycle has not yet reached showrooms but is only listed on the brand's official website. The Hero Karizma ZMR 2018 is available in two variants: standard and dual tone. The variants are priced at Rs 1.08 lakh and Rs 1.10 lakh respectively; both being ex-showroom (Delhi) prices.
The new Karizma ZMR was showcased earlier this year at Auto Expo 2018. Hero dealerships have already started accepting bookings for the 2018 Karizma. According to SIAM sales data, Hero MotoCorp shipped 17 units of the motorcycle in May and 12 in June.
The 2018 Hero Karizma ZMR does not get any mechanical changes but a few cosmetic updates. Powering the motorcycle is the same 223cc oil-cooled single-cylinder engine, which now comes with fuel injection. The BS-IV-compliant engine produces 20bhp and 19.7Nm of peak torque while being paired to a 5-speed gearbox.
The company claims that the motorcycle can reach a top speed of 129km/h. The 2018 Karizma ZMR features telescopic forks up front and twin shocks at the rear. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends, while ABS is still not on offer.
The Hero Karizma ZMR was launched back in 2003. The motorcycle can also be considered as one of the signature products from the brand. We think that the lack of updates was the biggest reason for the declining sales of the Karizma. It is still unknown if the new Karizma ZMR will get a good response in this competitive market.
The motorcycle was quite popular among long-distance riders due to its high refinement levels. On the other hand, the comfortable ergonomics and reliable mechanicals were also appreciated. Sadly, the Karizma R and the ZMR were discontinued in 2016.
At its price point, the 2018 Karizma ZMR will go up against the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 and Suzuki Gixxer SF.
Thoughts On The 2018 Karizma ZMR
The Hero Karizma was a popular name in the affordable performance motorcycle segment in India. However, the oddball styling did not attract buyers and the motorcycle started facing extremely low sales. Whether the new Karizma will make a difference is something we have to wait and see.
