Ducati Scrambler 1100 Spied In India — Launch Expected Soon
The Ducati Scrambler 1100 has been spied at a warehouse in India, ahead of its expected launch in August.
The Ducati Scrambler 1100 has been spotted in a warehouse in India. The motorcycle is expected to start arriving in the dealerships in a few weeks time. Once launched, the Ducati Scrambler 1100 is expected to be priced at around Rs 11 lakh, ex-showroom.
Globally, the larger displacement Scrambler is available in three variants: Standard, 1100 Special and the 1100 Sport. Ducati is expected to offer all three variants in India as well. The Scrambler 1100 is bigger and more performance oriented than the 800cc model, currently sold in India.
The larger displacement of the motorcycle still manages to retain the trademark Scrambler design language of Ducati. The Scrambler 1100 offers a host of aluminium finish accents for the engine covers, clutch and alternator cover.
The Scrambler 1100 also comes with a new LCD instrument panel, displaying various information such as riding modes and traction control settings.
The larger displacement Scrambler, however, offers a riding position similar to the Ducati Monster offering, with lower and farther set handlebars and footpegs.
The Ducati Scrambler 1100 is powered by a 1,079ccm, air-cooled, L-Twin engine. This is the same as on the Monster 1100 offering. However, the engine on the Scrambler has been slightly tweaked for smoother fueling. It produces 85bhp at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 88Nm at 4,750rpm. The engine is further mated to a six-speed gearbox with slipper-clutch which comes as standard.
The suspension on the Standard and Special variants of the Scrambler 1100 is handled by 45mm Marzocchi USD forks at the front. For the rear, the two variants come with Kayaba monoshock with preload and rebound adjustability.
The Scrambler Sport 1100, on the other hand, comes with 48mm USD front forks and a monoshock at the rear, both from Ohlins. Similar to the other two variants, the monoshock on the Sport also comes with preload and rebound adjustability.
Braking on the Ducati Scrambler 1100 is through dual 320mm and a single 245mm discs at the front and rear, respectively.
The larger displacement Scrambler offers a range of comprehensive electronics packages. This includes a five-level traction control, Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), ride-by-wire and three riding modes: Active (full power with direct throttle response), Touring (full power with relaxed throttle response) and City (muted throttle response with power reduced to 75bhp).
Thoughts On The Ducati Scrambler 1100
The Ducati Scrambler 1100 once launched in India, will be the top-of-the-line model in the Scrambler series. With a price expectation of around Rs 11 to 12 lakh, ex-showroom, the motorcycle will take on the likes of the Triumph Thruxton R.
