BMW G 310 R And G 310 GS Launched In India; Prices Start At Rs 2.99 Lakh
BMW Motorrad has launched their much-awaited entry-level motorcycles in India, the G 310R and the G 310GS. The BMW G 310 R is priced at Rs 2.99 lakh, while the G 310 GS costs Rs 3.49 lakh ex-showroom.
BMW G 310 R & G 310 GS Launched: BMW Motorrad has launched the new G 310 R and G 310 GS in India at Rs 2.99 lakh and Rs 3.49 lakh, respectively. The BMW G 310 R is the most-affordable product from BMW Motorrad, while the G 310 GS is the most-premium single-cylinder adventure motorcycle in the country.
Both the BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS were first showcased in India at Auto Expo 2018. Ever since then, Indian motorcycle enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for their launch. Bookings of the G 310 R and G 310 GS had already started in early-June 2018, at Rs 50,000.
That said, here's everything you need to know about the new BMW motorcycles!
BMW G 310 R
The most-affordable product from the brand - the G 310 R - is a naked motorcycle featuring the typical BMW Motorrad-styling. The G 310 R comes with golden 41mm USD front forks, 17-inch five-spoke cast-aluminium wheels and an aluminium swingarm. The overall design is inspired by the bigger BMW S 1000 R.
The front and rear suspensions have a travel of 140mm and 131mm respectively. The G 310 R rides on 110/70 R17 (front) and 150/60 R17 (rear) tyres, complete with 300mm and 200mm discs. Dual-channel ABS comes standard and the kerb weight stands at 158.5kg.
The BMW G 310 R is available in three colours: Style HP (pearl white + ‘HP' lettering), Cosmic Black and Racing Red.
BMW G 310 GS
The cheapest adventure motorcycle from BMW Motorrad - the G 310 GS - shares almost the same mechanicals as the G 310 R (including the engine) but is focussed to go off-road. The ‘baby GS' carries design traits of the top-of-the-line BMW R 1200 GS.
Compared to the G 310 R, the BMW G 310 GS gets a ‘beak-fender' (a typical design element in adventure motorcycles), bash plate to protect the engine and a relatively-raised exhaust.
Adding to its ruggedness is the large rear luggage rack. BMW will be providing a top box as an optional extra. Front and rear tyre sizes are 110/80 and 150/70, respectively.
The GS also gets a bigger front wheel at 19 inches while the rear remains at 17 inches. While the suspension travel at both sides is a good 180mm, the kerb weight is higher than the 310 R at 169.5kg.
The BMW G 310 GS comes in three shades: Racing Red, Pearl White Metallic and Cosmic Black.
Engine Specifications
The BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS are powered by a 313cc reverse-inclined single-cylinder engine; the same found in the TVS Apache RR310. The engine makes 34bhp @ 9500rpm and 28Nm @ 7500rpm while coming mated to a six-speed gearbox.
The claimed top speed of the G 310 R is around 145 km/h while the G 310 GS can be a bit slower due to its weight. Fuel economy for both is rated at 30 - 35km/l, ideally.
Thoughts On The New BMW G 310 R And G 310 GS.
"The wait is finally over" - as quoted by BMW Motorrad. The G 310 R and G 310 GS were two of the most-anticipated motorcycles of this year. Though the pricing is on the higher side for a single-cylinder, it is still an affordable BMW product. Which one will you choose - the agile R or the terrain-ready GS?
