Aprilia RS 150 Vs. Yamaha R15 V3 Comparison: Design, Specs, Features And Price
Aprilia RS 150 Vs. Yamaha R15 V3 Comparison
Yamaha finally launched the much-awaited R15 V3 in India at Auto Expo 2018, but the unveiling of an all-new 150cc bike by an Italian manufacturer was the most-talked-about debut at the event. Aprilia caught many by surprise by revealing the RS 150. Aprilia already retails the RS 125 in few international markets, but this is the first time it's intention to enter the lucrative 150cc segment in India. So how does the Aprilia RS 150 compare with Yamaha R15 V3? Here is a specification comparison between the Aprilia RS 150 and the new Yamaha R15 V3.
Design
Both the Aprilia RS 150 and the Yamaha R15 V3 are smaller versions of their elder siblings, lending a premium appeal to buyers alike. The Aprilia RS 150 borrows its design language from the bigger RSV4 and shares the trademark triple headlamp and the upswept pillion seat along with the exposed frame.
The Yamaha R15 V3 borrows its styling from the Yamaha YZF-R1 and the YZF-R6 sharing the sleek twin LED headlamps and the sharp styling. The R15 V3 rear pillion is upswept like the Aprilia RS 150, but more visually-comfortable. Both the fully-faired 150cc bikes are equally stylish and compliment their elder siblings well. While an Aprilia bike enthusiast will choose the RS 150, a die-hard Yamaha fan would undoubtedly opt for the new R15 V3.

Features, Brakes, Suspension
The Aprilia RS 150 features a semi-digital instrument console with the analogue tachometer on the left and digital LCD on the right. The digital LCD screen displays speed, trip and digital clock. The RS 150 gets a halogen-lit tri-headlamp, while the tail light receives an LED unit. Other features include clip-on handlebars, slipper clutch, optional quick shifter and dual-channel ABS.
The Yamaha R15 V3 gets a fully-digital instrument console and ditches the semi seen in the V2. The instrument console reads out information such as trip meter, odometer, fuel range, service reminder and more. Additionally, the new R15 features twin LED headlamp setup, clip-on handlebars, and slipper clutch.
Braking duties of the Yamaha R15 V3 are carried out by a 282mm disc brake at the front and 220mm disc at the rear, while the Aprilia RS 150 employs a 300mm at the front and 218mm disc brake at the front and rear respectively.
Both the stake against each other well, the Yamaha R15 V3 edges out the Aprilia RS 150 with its fully-digital instrument console, while the RS 150 with optional features such as a quick shifter. The Aprilia RS 150 features an upside down (USD) suspension setup at the front and mono shock at the rear, but Aprilia might not offer the same upon launch to keep cost low.

Pricing
Yamaha has priced the new R15 V3 at Rs 1.25 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi), while the Aprilia RS 150 is still in a concept stage and the manufacturer is still gauging customer response to its product. We expect the Aprilia RS 150 price to be in the range of Rs 1.30 lakh to Rs 1.4 lakh.
Verdict
On paper, the Aprilia RS 150 scores over the Yamaha R15 V3, but with the price not known, the new R15 V3 is still a favourite bike in India. If Aprilia decides to offer all the features seen in the unveiled bike, the Italian bike is a clear winner over the R15 V3.
