Feher ACH-1 Helmet — The World’s First Self-Contained Air-Conditioned Helmet
International helmet brand, Feher has introduced the world’s first self-contained air-conditioned helmet, the ACH-1.
International helmet manufacturer, Feher Helmets has introduced the world's first self-contained air-conditioned motorcycle helmets. The helmet, Feher ACH-1 comes at a steep price of US 599 Dollars, which is approximately Rs 42,000.
Feher uses thermoelectric technology to evenly distribute cooled air throughout the interior of the helmet. The company uses their patented tubular spacer fabric, along with the ACH-1's comfort liner to provide a consistently cooler internal temperature.
The company claims that the variation in temperature inside directly depends on the ambient temperature. With the cooling effect being more significant at higher temperatures. Feher claims to offer a temperature reduction by almost 10 to 15 degrees on the interiors of the ACH-1.
The helmet helps keep the rider head cooler than the body, therefore offering a more comfortable ride even under hot conditions.
The helmet will be powered by the rider's motorcycle battery. The helmet is offered with a harness to connect the helmet with the battery, which powers the AC unit.
The helmet can also be used with any external 12V battery pack, in case the rider doesn't want to connect the helmet to the motorcycle. However, the 12V battery pack is not sold by Feher and needs to be purchased separately.
According to Feher, a 3000mAh battery pack should power the helmet for at least two hours. While a larger 12,000mAh battery will power the AC unit in the helmet for a maximum of six hours.
The Feher helmet is constructed using fibreglass, making it lightweight even with the addition of the AC unit. The Feher ACH-1 helmet weighs in at just 1,450gm (+/- 30 grams). The ACH-1 is DOT and ECE 22.05 certified, similar to many other high-end helmets sold in India.
Thoughts On The Feher ACH-1 Helmet
With a price tag of around Rs 42,000, excluding of taxes, the Feher ACH-1 is similarly priced to most high-end helmet brand sold in the country. However, the addition of the AC unit on the helmet, is certainly an interesting choice, especially during the hot summers in India.
