2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 Launch Details Revealed; Expected Price, Specifications And Key Features

The new Tiger 1200 will be the first bike from Triumph to go on sale in the new 2018-19 financial year. The new 1200 offering from Triumph, unlike its younger sibling, will be sold in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).

The Tiger 1200 gets the same 1215cc inline three-cylinder engine with some minor upgrades. This engine now produces 141bhp and 122Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The top trims get a new Arrow exhaust system as well.

The 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 gets a host of new upgrades similar to its younger sibling. The upgrades include changes to the styling, driver aids and the engine. The major change in the new 2018 version of the motorcycle is the badging, with the omission of the Explorer moniker it will now feature just the ‘Tiger 1200' badging.

Features on the 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 include all-LED lights, adaptive cornering lights, LED signature lights, new toggle switch, illuminated switchgear, hill-hold control access, new riding modes and a full-colour TFT LCD screen as available on the Tiger 800's XRx and XCx variants.

The adventurer variants get additional features such as cornering ABS, integrated braking system, keyless ignition and an updated cruise control system. Expect prices to start from Rs 17.5 lakh for the XR and Rs 20 lakh for the XC series (ex-showroom prices).

Thoughts On The 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200

The 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 is internationally available in six variants, with no confirmation yet on which of them will make it to India. Once launched, it will take on rivals such as the BMW R 1200GS, and the Ducati offerings; Multistrada 1260 along with the 1260 Enduro.
