Modern Simplicity With A Classic Silhouette — Say Hello To The Vanguard Roadster

Vanguard debuted the Roadster prototype at the 2016 New York International Motorcycle Show, revealing a one-off custom bike with integrated systems and components.

Not only there's no visible brake-hoses, wires and other bits hidden from view, but even the exhaust system integrated within the bike's chassis.

The mounts on the top of the engine connect the steering head and support the cantilevered rear seat.

The rear suspension is mounted to the back of its 1,917cc, air-cooled, V-twin engine. Similar to the Confederate Hellcat, the Roadster features a clear-glass cover over the timing gears, revealing them to the bystanders like an exotic mechanical watch.

That engine comes customised to suit Vanguard's design language and extremely integrated components.

Other key parts of the motorcycle are outsourced, like the Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, and Metzeler tires.

Contributing to the Roadster's stripped-out look is the tricky driveshaft which is concealed within the single-sided swingarm, so there is no chain or belt drive visible outside.

"We relied on design and engineering to create our language, without relying on heritage or nostalgia," said Edward Jacobs. "Our design is based on a utilitarian approach, where each part and each component form and function."

The motorcycle has succeeded in gathering attention since its debut. The company has now informed that the deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2018.
