New Yamaha YZF-R1 Launched In India; Priced At Rs 20.73 Lakh
New Yamaha YZF-R1 launched in India.
India Yamaha Motor has launched the all-new YZF-R1 in the country. The updated litre-class superbike is priced at Rs 20.73 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
Yamaha has introduced the new iteration of the YZF-R1 to strengthen its position in the superbike segment in the Indian market.
The new YZF-R1 has been developed as a flagship model of race track with pure MotoGP blood. The new motorcycle is offered in two colour options - Yamaha Blue and Tech Black. The YZF-R1 will be brought to India via CBU (Completely Built Unit) route.
The newly launched Yamaha YZF-R1 draws power from a 998cc cross plane, four-cylinder, four-valve engine producing 197.2bhp without ram air pressurisation. The cross plane technology is borrowed from the YZR-M1 which allows the crankshaft for an uneven firing order which delivers high linear torque.

For optimal performance, the engine of the new R1 uses high compression 01:01 PM cylinder head featuring a pent roof combustion chamber with large diameter intake and exhaust valves. The motorcycle is equipped with titanium con rods and forged aluminium pistons.
For peak power output and linear torque, the engine is connected to a lightweight 4-2-1 exhaust system. The compact midship muffler contributes towards mass centralisation and emits a unique exhaust note.
Other updated features on the new YZF-R1 include new Quick Shift System (QSS) for smooth downshifts and clutchless upshifts. The updated superbike also gets a new Lift Control System (LIF) which is tuned to progressive mapping.
The new Yamaha YZF-R1 is based on the aluminium Delta-box frame with a long upward-truss type swing arm and magnesium rear frame. The kerb weight of the motorcycle stands at 199kg. The motorcycle is aerodynamically designed with central forced intake, high windscreen and low headlight position.
The new Yamaha YZF-R1 features a race bike silhouette with compact LED headlights on either side of the air intake and twin LED running lights which gives it a unique look which is inspired by the YZR-M1.

The new Yamaha YZF-R1 borrows its technology from the YZR-M1, the MotoGP machine of the factory Yamaha racing team. The overall design is also inspired by its MotoGP sibling. The engine gets few new features which further enhance the performance of the motorcycle. The YZF-R1 is one of the advanced litre-class motorcycles currently available in the Indian market.
