Merzouga Rally 2017: Hero MotoSports And Sherco TVS Stage 5 Updates
The stage 4 of the Merzouga Rally has concluded and Hero MotoSports rider Joaquim Rodrigues is in ninth position in the overall standings.
The fifth stage of the Merzouga Rally 2017 witnessed the riders tackle the second day of the marathon stage. The penultimate stage of the rally was a 206km stage with many dunettes, big stone fields and tricky navigation.
Hero MotoSports rider Joaquim Rodrigues had an excellent day at the office and finished the fifth stage just 1 minute 7 seconds behind the stage winner in fourth place. With this result, Rodrigues moved to the ninth position in the overall standings.
Indian rider CS Santosh started the stage well but a nasty crash hampered his progress. He lost a lot of time due to the crash and finished the stage in 36th position. He slipped down to 17th place in the overall standings.
Santosh said, "The Marathon stage is generally the turning point of any cross country any rally. For me the marathon stage started alright but a couple of crashes and navigations errors hampered my performance."
He added, "I wasn't feeling too good with the bike and found that I had some damage there. My focus was to bring it home today and get it in shape for the last stage tomorrow."
Sherco TVS rider Aravind KP had a good stage with 23rd fastest stage time. He improved his overall standings and is in 20th position. International debutant Abdul Wahid performed well on the second day of the marathon stage and is in 26th position overall.
Joan Pedrero is the leading Sherco TVS rider. He finished the penultimate stage with sixth quickest time. With this resulted he has strengthened his fourth place on the overall leaderboard.
