KTM Reveals Launch Details Of Husqvarna Bikes In India

Husqvarna India launch details revealed.

Austrian sports bike manufacturer, KTM has confirmed that it will roll out Husqvarna brand in India by 2020. Ahead of the launch, the production of Husqvarna bikes will begin at partner Bajaj Auto's Chakan plant by the end of 2019.

KTM has an installed capacity to manufacture 1 lakh KTM bikes at Bajaj's Chakan plant, and it plans to add another capacity of 1 lakh units for the Husqvarna brand. With this, KTM will be producing 2 lakh units per annum at Bajaj's Chakan plant.

"It has been agreed upon, and they (Husqvarna bikes) should be launched in India by 2020. That means by the end of 2019 the manufacturing should begin at Chakan," KTM CEO Stefan Pierer told on the sidelines of EICMA 2017 here.

He added that the company would roll out products from Husqvarna's White Arrow and Black Arrow. These are primarily the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and the Svartpilen 401. Both the bikes follow a Cafe Racer design language but with a modern interpretation.

The Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and the Svartpilen 401 are powered by a 375cc single-cylinder engine, which powers the KTM 390 Duke and RC, producing 43bhp and 37Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Presently, KTM manufactures the Husqvarna bikes in Austria, and now it will be produced in India as well. KTM and Bajaj Auto have completed a decade of a strategic partnership under which KTM's Duke 125 390 and RC 125 390 are manufactured in Bajaj's Chakan plant and are sold by the two partners globally.
