In October 2016, Mahindra & Mahindra announced that it had acquired the BSA brand and the deal was worth Rs 28 crore. The company was also looking to buy Norton Motorcycles but ended up finalising the deal with BSA.
Mahindra has acquired 100 percent shares of BSA Company Limited through its subsidiary firm Company, Classic Legends Private Limited (CLPL). But just days after buying the British brand, Mahindra revealed that the new BSA motorcycle would not be produced in India, and it will not make it to India anytime soon.
Previously, Mahindra had also announced that it would focus on the premium niche segment with its newly acquired brands such as BSA and Jawa Moto. The good news is that the Jawa motorcycles will be manufactured in India and the first product is expected to roll out by the end of 2018.
