Ather To Unveil India’s First Smart Electric Scooter At SURGE In Bangalore
Ather Energy, an electric vehicle startup company will unveil India's first smart electric scooter at the Web summit SURGE to be held in Bangalore between February 23 to 24, 2016. The company was started by IIT graduates, Tarun Mehta & Swapnil Jain. The scooter, which is code named S340 has an Android based smart dashboard, which enables navigation and fully personalized UI dashboard.

The Hardware unit of the scooter monitors and customizes vehicle parameters based on the rider's usage profile. The company claims sub-one hour charging for about 80 percent of power. The scooter comes with a light lithium-ion battery pack, designed in-house by Ather. Also, the scooter's battery pack is just 15 kgs, which makes the whole scooter lighter compared to other petrol scooters in the market.
As per the company, it has been funded by Tiger Global, Flipkart founders Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal. Ather claim to be among the few hardware startups when compared to numerous software startups.

SURGE is Web Summit's first conference in India, mainly attracting startups in India. Many of the attendees include companies from Flipkart, Snapdeal, BlaBlacar, Zoomcar, Foodpanda, HIke Messenger, and many more. In 5 years, Web Summit has been held annually in Europe and has grown from a mere 400 attendees to over 42,000 in more than 134 countries. It's been called "the best technology conference on the planet".
